    this is wrong, you can’t multiply the ambient occlusion over the beauty pass. It has to be over the diffuse pass. Otherwise you get a very “gritty” looking result. You can see the mental ray pass documentation in maya for verification of this.

    The proper way to multi pass composite is to export enough passes from maya to re-create the beauty pass and then separate them out.

      I could’ve exported 15 passes but what I was aiming at is just a basic guide to multichannel compositing.
