Modeling and Animating An Xpresso Driven Clock In Cinema 4D

Modeling and Animating An Xpresso Driven Clock In Cinema 4D

Tutorial Details
  • Software: Maxon Cinema 4D
  • Difficulty: Intermediate
  • Estimated Completion Time: 1 Hour

Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Today we’ll take some time (did you get it?) to model and animate a clock in Cinema 4D using only Xpresso. We’ll model the clock from a basic cylinder and add some simple materials and lighting to the scene. Once we have the model complete, we’ll begin animating the clock with Xpresso and add some user data to have more control over our final animation.

A Nice way to explain $D Animation. Since the day I heard about it I was wondering in what ways it is different from 3D. This blog is so good in explaining the technique. It is as good as a tutorial. Thanks for the effort. Nice blog!

looks good, one thing i noticed in the model is that the the spikes that represent the hours don’t face the clock hands which is a bit strange.

I thought it looked prettier that way, but just keep the Align checkbox checked and they will.

        Cool tutorial! Thank you.

Are there any jobs you can find by knowing Cinema 4D? Not talking about freelance. I’m looking for a new career and have been thinking about going the After Effects / Cinema 4D way but I have no idea if there are alot of jobs in that field or not.

        Thanks!

Great tutorial. Though at 12:39 the multiplier should be 12 not 6 to get a realistic interaction between the 2 hands. Otherwise the hour hand moves 2 hours for every time the minute hand goes around (which it does in the demo).

Thanks for the great tut. When I rotate the whole clock (angle: H = 0 ;P = 80; B = 0) it doesn´t work anymore. Can someone help me please?
