Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This is not a project based tutorial. This is a 101 tutorial, which introduces you to how materials work in Cinema 4D. I will show you what layers are, and what the different parameters are. How to use them and what they do. Explain the difference between transparency and alpha, and other little details of the material system that I have learnt over time.

By posting such tutorial(s) you target only beginners thus you mock others. You post too many beginner tutorials and/or C4D+AE, how about a complex model tutorial ? I see for other apps (max/maya) very nice tutorials but for Cinema 4D you post more than 50-70% beginner tutorials, not fair !

    Hi!

When I first saw this been posted on Facebook I was really excited but now im kinda disapointed tbh.
You go trough the step real fast and I think the cool stuff is to show people how the layering works.
Offcourse people can figure these things out but as you already going trough the basics it might be a bit more of those in depth.

Anyway thank you for posting, I learend something here and there but it’s all about experimenting ;)

Sorry guys, I’ll try and get a follow up tutorial done which shows me more layer experimenting and post up a link.

I think this is just fine, I learn something even if I think I already know this.

This was great and was very helpful to the audience who it was clearly directed to with the title Materials 101. Ignore the whiners.

I searched without success a while ago for a method of creating the 2 tone effect of the model pictured here so I am disappointed to discovered that you do not explain how that’s done. It even says above the image “Final Product What You’ll be Creating” !

Sorry, I just figured out what should have been perfectly obvious – a Colorizer on the same image in the Color channel.

I was a bit dissapointed as well, for the same reason you were. Although ‘perfectly obvious’ comment made me play around with the layers option and I got some nice, simular, outcomes. Thanks Paul!
