From the Cgtuts+ archives:
Twice a month we revisit some of our reader’s favorite posts from throughout the history of Cgtuts+. Today we’re taking a look back at Mountaga Kane’s awesome tutorial on Creating Realistic Renders Using Advanced Render in C4D. This tutorial received a great response when it was originally published back in June of 09′, so if you missed it the first time, why not check it out now.
Maxon’s 11th release of Cinema 4D introduces significant improvements to Advanced Render. AR 3 now uses two new algorithms (Irradiance and Quasi-Monte Carlo), making it much easier and faster to get clean, and beautiful renders than ever before. In this tutorial we will learn how to take advantage of these amazing new features!

Wonderful tutorial! It is pitched just right – you show people what C4D is capable of, but you do not overwhelm them. Thank you for your effort.
Great man, thanks!
hi,guys am very new in cinema 4d but i understand the interface n its really great but can sam one really sort me on exterior and interior lighting pliiiiiiiiz, thanks
Buenos dias. http://lezopolos.br
loved this! really helped me understand lighting, which i have trouble with. thank you!
Hi guys, great tutorial but I’m having a slight issue; I can’t seem to get Depth of Field to render. I’ve watched the video 4 times but I can’t see what I’m doing wrong. I add the target camera, position the target to the pokeball. Under the cameras attributes I’ve enabled “Use Target Camera” (and is set to the correct target camera), “Front Blur” and “Rear Blur”. I’ve also added the effect “Depth of Field” to the render settings, “Use” is ticked on “Distance Blur” and all other settings are default but when I render there is no DoF?
Glow effect works fine..
Can’t download the project files anymore :/ have another link?
Try removing the from the end of the link, should work fine then.
Who can give me a copy of the teaching video? I can not open the Blip site, thanks a lot!my email is vanqy@yahoo.cn
where s the tutorial?!!
Awesome tutorial!
The download link for the project files is broken.
Remove the from the end of the link address.
The address should be:

Thanks a lot dude. Thanks for the Tute too!

Them poke balls looks so good.
Keep up the good work! :D
uuummm good tutorial. Where is the download link for actual video screen cap?
Nevermind, think I got it…Thank you Mountaga Kane for your awesomeness and sharing this wonderful tip! Best.
Great tut. But nice nice would be a tut on how to make the pokeballs xD
Very handy and I love the effects!
I used to use 3D Max but trying to switch to C4D because it’s much less complicated.
Amazing tut. You made my day. Thanks
This is the tutorial that got me into Cinema 4D. I just wanted to take the time to come back and say thanks!
The tutorial seems missing, does anyone have another link for it? maybe someone want to correct it or remove the tut… thanks!
Beautiful! Easy to follow, can’t wait to try it!
I was reading through something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your perspective on it is diametrically opposed to what I read to begin with. I am still reflecting over the various points of view, but I’m leaning heavily toward your point of view. And no matter, that’s what is so superb about modern democracy and the marketplace of ideas online.
Wonderful tutorial! Thanks :)
I am using Cinema 4D v 12 (R12), and when I open Exterior_start the floor is black and it says that I do not have the texture used for the floor which is “Juglans texture”.
Anyone can help??
i like em, like em, like em.. it took 3 days to render my pic but hell, it was worth it!!!
Your da man!!!!!
A nice and a very impressive post! I am so happy I checked your article. Keep up the extraordinary work. Have a good day!
“DIF-use”, not “DI-fuse”, and “VIN-yette”, not “VIG-nette”
Please don’t do tutorials with gum in your mouth.
Hey guys,
The Project Files download link has been fixed, sorry about that!
Cheers
Ben
Impressive but I prefer Vray and 3Ds Max for now
This tutorial is at least inspired if not STOLEN, u are so low on imagination for Cinema 4D Tutorials not to say that this is not fair, u put kindergarden tutorials for Cinema 4D lately and for other 3D apps very nice stuff, shame on you, tutsplus !
A new tutorial would have been nice. I agree with Miwok, the c4d tuts are poor in comparison to the other 3D programs.
i have some probs when i add sun light and wanna change the angle it just doesn’t aply when i click on these scene it resets again really frustrating
