Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 4 of 9 in the Best of Cinema4D Session
« PreviousNext »

In this beginner/ intermediate level Cinema 4D tutorial, you will learn how to use a particle emitter and gravity from the Mograph module to create a dynamic simulation of marbles falling into a glass bowl. You will also learn a technique on how to make more glass look more convincing from the basic banji shader, and how to light your scene with global illumination.

A basic tutorial but i learned some cool tips to get that glass shader. thanks a lot man, very good :)

  2. ramesh says:

awesome man ! i was waiting for this thanks.

  3. flashpredator says:

Great tutorial, I was looking around for something no to dissimilar for my demoreel.

Bit of advice for envato, they really need to scrap this player as it doesn’t render the video out well. It has been a constant niggle for quite a while, The video doesn’t play smoothly on low end computers and high end macs.

    Peace

  4. Zwoep says:

Seen it on greyscalegorilla. Hope you didn’t get paid for this.

  5. Mike says:

Yeah its similar to GreyscaleGorilla but that uses MoDynamics. This uses a Particle Emitter and Dynamics however so its definitely similar concept but different approach.

  6. dim0w says:

From this tutorial can be learn a lot of very useful tips…Good job and keep going ;):);)

  7. chetan says:

hey, even i can do a ton of such tuts man.. nick has done a lot like this you know :P… get a life dude..

  8. Sal says:

Nice tuts, Sebastien. By the way are you from Quebec? I live in Montreal and I’m a screenwriter. I’m learning C4D to relax….lol. Maybe we can hook up if you’re from Mtl.

  9. Yeahhh another tutorial….. ugh can we get some cinema 4d modeling tuts? it does more than mograph…

  10. geoff brown says:

i found this tutorial very helpful and well explained. the end result looks great. a helpful introduction to emitters. thank you very much for the great tut sbastien.

  11. Shahrez Rafiq says:

Not particularly interested in marbles, glass shader looks good though.

  12. Thanks for the positive comments and… too bad for the bad ones lol… maybe I will get into C4D modeling (which I haven’t explored that much yet). Et oui @Sal je suis Québécois, mais je vis à Québec Québec, mais whatever, lâche pas C4D :D

  13. kswiss says:

we need more mo graph tuts!

  14. adam says:

anybody have any idea how to knock over the bowl with dynamics so all the marbles spill out and the bowl reacts?

  15. Shane says:

    greyscale gorilla?

  16. jason says:

umm…why don’t your marbles have any bounce? they just fall and stick. also, this isn’t very creative. yes, thank you for covering some modynamics and particle generation but you could have done something with it that hasn’t been done and seen by thousands of people all over the world who look at greyscale gorilla every day.

  17. gabriel says:

    very good..

    thanks.

  18. humberto says:

the preview and tutorial video player are bullshit never works in my computer , and it is not an old computer its a core 2 duo macbook pro

  19. Yahya says:

This is sick! Pretty cool as you like to say. You showed some awesome tricks and trade off of a lovely rendering foundation. From navigating built in content manager, to quick preset of glass material and to finally quickly animate your camera off of splines. You showed some sick time savers.

    THANK YOU!

  20. pprator says:

    Nice. Very helpful.

What means if i don’t have the MoGraph – Rigid body? … Please let me know on my e-mail: madalin08_irl@yahoo.com

Very usefull tutorial. thanks a lot.

  22. alin says:

hello….i have a little problem…i have not the rigid tool in cinema 4d?what is the problem?great tutorial…thx!

  23. Giuliano says:

Cool Tutorial! i’ve really understand a lot of things about the basics of animation with this! Thank you for sharing you’re knowledge!

  24. Grant says:

I think this is the best C4D tutorial I have seen. You covered a whole heap of important stuff – I never even knew about the content browser! Thanks a lot.

  25. Anja says:

    Hey!

Nice tutorial but I don’t have this MoGraph gravity. So where do I get it?

  26. Keejay says:

:( Very nice toturial but I got same problem with rigid body.. I follow the steps but the problem is when you added the rigid body to the cloner effects, the bowl and Emmiter are not bouncing together…. I stuck of that step but I manage to solve the problem.. I just delete it the Emmiter and used clone and added random effects so it look realistic…but after 3 minutes I realize that this tutorial is not for me :(..

“I found a new thing.. if u want to cut the sphere half, you just need to change type:Standard to Hermisphere for short cut ” :)

    thank you man :)

  27. richie says:

    awesome…..

  28. Robert says:

I see you are using either 11 or 11.5 , could you possibly do an updated version of this tutorial using R12, as when i add a rigid body , the sphere falls endlessly.

  29. smotru says:

Is it normaly to take 60h+ for rendering on i3? THX

  30. Elmar says:

Tnx nick i searched your blog for a little problem with the emitter first the just fall on to the bowl no the don’t YAY

  31. terry says:

I am using coffee beans for the cloner, but they leak from bottom of the bowl, at least for the first 50 frames.

Any ideas 0n how to plug this leak?

    regards

    /terry
