Quick Tip: C4D Power Of Presets

Tutorial Details
  • Software: Maxon Cinema 4D
  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Estimated Completion Time: 30 Minutes

Final Product What You'll Be Creating

In today’s quick tip, new Cgtuts+ author Vaibhav Kotak will show you how to obtain access to the presets and examples inside Cinema4D using the content browser and some important things you should always keep in mind when going through projects and presets. In any program, presets are a huge asset. You can use presets to speed up your workflow if you already are an efficient user of the program you are working with, but more importantly, beginners can analyze presets to figure out how the effect was achieved.

realy thats the tutorial.!!? presets..wow..i guss no more ideas..presets..get some realy tutorials please

    • http://www.christateonline.com Chris Tate

This is simply a short “quick tip” aimed at people who are completely new to C4D. Users that may be unaware that these built in models and presets even exist. Like I said it’s a quick tip, it’s not meant to be a complete tutorial and is only intended to provide a helpful tip or technique to users. As we are all aware, 3D software packages can be extremely confusing, especially to new users!

    Fix your audio.

    Didn’t watch, seemed obvious.

    Unsubscribed.

  • TURISTA

Hi…looks like it the wrong video…that is blender not C4D.

    Thanks

    • http://www.christateonline.com Chris Tate

      Hey Turista,

This is in fact Cinema4D, not Blender. Although the UI’s are simular in appearance :)

      Cheers!

Not bad for a quick tip. But we expect more from cgtuts.
I knew all about the content browser and the presets. But this gives me an idea to customize and repurpose some of the presets like the lights and character rigs.

  • fdsfdsfsd

    really cgtuts? REALLY?

You paid someone to point out the presets button?

    WHAT A JOKE

    • Vaibhav Kotak
      Author

      1) There’s no “presets button” as you suggest. Only a way to access them and your hard drive via C4D itself.

      2) With that comment, not only are you insulting me, but also Chris Tate, the editor for this pitch, who also happens to be a pretty helpful and cool guy. Insult the way the content is presented if you will, but don’t insult the fact that it’s there. It’s free for you to see, so if you don’t like it, suck it up. Any indirect insults to Chris will be taken personally by me and I will lash out, not as nicely if needed.

      3) Don’t know if you watched the video, but I guess if you had, you would’ve seen that I do more than just “point out the ‘presets button’” to quote you exactly.

Of course, you can’t really expect someone to be able of higher thought than that when the person in question has filled out the clearly labeled NAME slot with Fdsfdsfsd.

      • Shaun

Not to be rude but you shouldn’t directly insult him when you didn’t like that he did it to you. Do unto others as you would like done unto you.

I am ok with you showing the people the content browser but I just suggest that you should have thought the video out more. I don’t know if you were just tense or something but you seemed unsure about a lot and I just suggest for the future to plan what you are going to say better and figure out the way you will present something. It’s just a way to seem more professional, because this video seemed more of a “wing-it” video if you will. I am not trying to be mean, I am just trying to through my insight out there.

        No, thank YOU! :)

Please listen to your own tutorial and hear how you sound. You are jumping around too much and you say the word “uh” a lot. It’s very distracting. Practice.

    • Vaibhav Kotak

I’m doing what I can, I know that I do tend to say “uh” a lot, but I’m hoping I’ll get better as time goes on and I get a bit more experience.

People need to get a grasp of reality and remember why we are here. People also need to remember that the guys who are creating the tutorials are doing it because they are trying to help others learn and they are doing it from their own time. If you do not like how a tutorial or a quick tip is made then please feel free to create your own. Let’s hope your tutorial is perfect and your skin is as thick as your head.
There is always something new to learn and there are always more than one way to do something. I learned a few things from this tutorial and am very appreciative for it.

Great tutorial! I was trying to figure out how to use presets and you truly helped me. The comments from some of these people are truly toxic and beneath your attention. Most of these internet “gurus” wouldn’t dare speak in such a tone face to face it is borderline cowardice and jealousy that fuel their comments I can’t wait until skype intergration becomes the norm so you can see some of these g-strings on your monitor at least but in all good explanation!

Thank you for showing a beginner things that I thought never existed in this program. I’m awed and elated. Starting out with a preset to begin a project, I think is a great way to start your creative juices flowing in a direction that is already assembled. I’m a firm believer in not creating the wheel if it’s already built. (a time saver). Also, to explore how things are assembled is a great way to learn how to assemble them. You get great insight. THANKS

  • Andromeda

Thanks for this nice Quick Tip, really helped me :)

    And to all the haters:
1.) If you can do better, were are your vids??
2.) If someone is extremely rude at the author just because he didn’t find the vid useful… tjees suck it up man go masturbate :D

  • arpiti
