Creating complex hard-surface objects using subdivision surfaces (SDS) can often be a tricky and time-consuming ordeal, although this does not necessarily have to be the case. In this three day, intermediate to advanced level tutorial, we’ll be using Modo 302′s feature-rich toolset to accurately model the Canon A1 camera, resulting in an object that is almost entirely SDS.

Thanx for your work !!!
Dude you are amazing. That was the most in depth tutorial I have seen I have learned so much by watching your tutorial. thank you very much.
nice work and wonderful lessons
thanks for sharing your knowledge with us
You should be really proud of yourself. This is one of the best tutorials I have seen free or otherwise. You do a very good job of covering all the important details. Your narration is also top notch. I really want to say thanks for putting together such a great tutorial and I look forward to any of you future works. It’s funny I am learning Modo but will most likely do this model first in Maya then recreate it in Modo.
Thanks guys, it means a lot. Glad you liked them
Matt
Great tutorials! Thank you very much for your detailed explanations.
Your teaching sets an example.
I’ve learned a lot and really enjoyed it.
Excellent as always, Matt!
I really like that you take time to explain every step. In many tutorials the tutor skips a step and expect that you understand what’s going on. And then suddenly you’re totally lost.
This is premium work!
A superb tutorial series, I would’ve never thought that such a seemingly complex model would use such simple techniques. Thank you Matt for having the patience to make this, and thank you CGTuts for hosting it. I have never seen such a good tutorial available for free.
Excellent Tutorial!! I Demand that you create more!
If I buy you a few bevies, could you pop round for some tuition?
good tutorials…thanks for taking the time to do this…it confirmed a few things are OK like occassional smoothing errors…i used modo a while back but a few things annoyed me like no paint selection(unforgivable), the layer based materials and the background layer methodlogy. watching this video convinced me that im not really missing anything in maya modelling wise. maya is way underrated for modelling.
