Follow artist Ben Henry as he guides you through the creation of a Team Fortress 2 inspired view-model weapon for use in Valve’s Source Engine. In Day 1, Ben will start the project off by modeling and Uvmapping an Axe for a TF2 character in 3D Studio Max. This four part series is a great starting point for any artist interested in game development or creating their own mods. Let’s get started!

    A little hint when unwrap your object, make sure you deselect “Normalize Map” so you are 100% sure every UV-Island has the same pixel density and you avoid any kind of streching caused by ‘normalize map’

    Hi.
    This seems to be the kind of tutorial I’ve been waiting for long :D.
    One thing I have to ask though. Does this tutorial include the actual getting of the weapon to work in-game? …such as being able to use it in Team Fortress 2 even if just as a model replacement for another similar weapon (not as a completely different weapon).
