Creating a 3d character that is equipped to be animated is one of the most challenging things you can do in CG, and to make matters worse, it has always been equally challenging to find any comprehensive tutorials on the entire workflow. Well not any more! In this 7 video long, intermediate to advanced level tutorial series, professional Blender artist, Karan Shah, will walk you through the complete creation process of a ready to animate video game character. From modeling, to UVs and texturing, to adding the final mesh topology for deformation, this series is a must see for any Blender character artist!

Hi there Mister Shah,
fabulous series:)
the UV part is very concise and i’m sure it will help other users very much, the same as it helped me. Also the intro on texture paint in blender, baking the Ao map in advance and taking it into the gimp for the diffuse texture is very informative. I will use your advice wisely and have to say I’m very grateful for that tutorial!
Thanks a lot and best regards from Berlin!
Loved this tutorial. It was straightforward and very ueseful.
Thank You!
good input
very great tutorial.
can’t wait for the rigging and animating part.
Ton of Thanks Guru Karan Shah
what more can i say… but MORE!!!
Mr Karan Shah will there be a rigging and animating part?
how about a gundam tutorial?
Excelente tutorial de low poly, me ha servido de mucho…
muchas gracias y espero poder ver mas.
Hey thank you so much!!
I’ve been looking for this since i get to use blender for the first time.
Sure there is some character tutorials , but no one about the manga/anime style.
This is awesome, as it helps on every aspect of creating the model to texturing.
Hope that an rigging / animating part comes out too, but thanks again for this one!
quite beautiful, i will recommend this tutorial to other people!
Great tutorial! Thaks! I watched all parts and i have done that same model!
Greetings!
Thank-you! Managed to complete this very comprehensive tutorial and in the process, have become much more familiar (and quicker) with the Blender, dare I say – quirky interface.
Kind regards
WOW! this is my four day whit your tut, Excellent! And i am working with 2.5.1 version. No problem at all. I never used 2.49b I just star to used Blender two months ago, and I am hook.
Tell you, it is very hard to find tuts like yours, or better, there are not around.
I looked for days, until I fund this lessons.
I am hungry for the next step. My model is a character of my own, and its just great to see him becoming alive. Thanks a lot!
I am completely and utterly impressed at how thorough you were with all of this! You even said you wouldn’t really go through the GIMP part, but you for the most part did.
I’m sure you would have no trouble writing a book about blender.
One question though, when I export to an obj, do you know of any model viewers that I can use to just take some screen shots of my finished model?
Thanks!
thanks! good job!

Hi Ahmed,
I’ve just double checked the tutorials and the downloads seem to be working fine here – it might have been a temporary thing! If you can let me know if you still have any problem, I’ll chase it up and see what I can do
Cheers!
