Creating a 3d character that is equipped to be animated is one of the most challenging things you can do in CG, and to make matters worse, it has always been equally challenging to find any comprehensive tutorials on the entire workflow. Well not any more! In this 7 video long, intermediate to advanced level tutorial series, professional Blender artist, Karan Shah, will walk you through the complete creation process of a ready to animate video game character. From modeling, to UVs and texturing, to adding the final mesh topology for deformation, this series is a must see for any Blender character artist!

Great character!!
Awesome Tut bro
Excellent !!!!
Really nice tutorial, but in what part are you doing the hands? i cant find it
Normally I don’t comment, but I need to support you by commenting
I always searched for a complete tutorial like this!
It’s made to understand each part very easy.
A very big THANKS from me.
Btw: Between the ending of the second and the beginning of the third video, the modelling of the hands is missing. I would love to see this part. I hope you have recorded it as well.
The hand vid must have got lost in the transfer, but not to worry…it has been found and posted at the end or day 1! Enjoy:)
very very great tutorial ……Thanks
You folks have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for a tutorial like this. I’ve been trying to model anime faces/heads for ages, and the eyes & nose have always given me trouble. The nose looks a wee bit blunt, but I guess that’s a matter of opinion, and can easily be remedied by a bit of tweaking. Can’t wait for the texturing bit (I’m horrible at texturing)!

Looking forward to day 3
I can’t wait for the UV Maps T_T
What happened to Day 3? I get a 404 Error when I try to go to that page.
I found the last part (UV Textures), but I’ll let Karan post the details here. It makes for good viewing. Thank you, Karan for the work you’ve put in. It’ll be pretty worthwhile to a lot of budding CG novices.
Thanks.
Hey karan great tutorial. This one of the best tutorial i have watched.
i also get a 404 error for day 3 page
I also get an error when trying to access Day3. Help!
Day 3 gives me a 404 too. Maybe I’ll try Googling for Day 3, if its already out.
Sorry about that guys! Day 3 actually hasn’t posted to the site yet (will be tomorrow!). In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have added the link until AFTER it was online. My bad:I
great tut! hope many more tuts like this in blender to come, thank you!
cooooooooooool
Great tutorial. Two questions:
1. Do you have trouble rigging the shoulders? Does it look natural when the manga model, for example, raises her hands in the air? This is something I’ve had a great amount of trouble with, and
2. How do you prevent the body from intersecting with the clothes when you animate this? I have troubles with legs sometimes peeking out of the pants or the perhaps the pants coming out of the shirt when the character bends over. Maybe all this would be explained in a rigging tutorial. Thanks!
That is too great and satisfactory!!!!
Can we get videos of animating the caracter in a video game please?
Help
hey, thanks for the tutorial, but I cant quite understand the last part of the clothing. I’m using 2.56 by the way. After i have finished modeling and placing the bow you say “Select the skirt and other objects, and then press SET WOOD in the editing panel”. Did you say set wood? where is that in blender 2.56? or did i misunderstand something. Also, am i suppose to be able to do this to all the objects at the same time or one object at a time, for instance first skirt, then shirt, then collar, then bow? If anyone can help me out, i would appreciate it so much.
i dont speak english and writh but thanks for total tutorial.
