Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series Animated Fish Swarm In Blender

In this new two part tutorial from Frederik Steinmetz, you’ll learn how to create a truly unique fish swarm animation using Blender. Frederik will guide you through the entire process of Modeling, Texturing, Rigging and Animating a realistic school of mackerels. You’ll then learn how to create a spiraling, tornado like effect for the swarm using particles.

In part two (coming soon) Frederik will follow up by taking you through the rendering and compositing stages, using both Blender’s internal rendering engine and the Cycles engine. Click through to get started!

    Hi, Frederik Steinmetz

Many thanks, useful tutorial. In one sitting you demonstrated complete workflow about modeling,uv unwrapping, texturing, rigging, particle system, vortex, etc in one sitting.
My progrss and render in cycles at the end of tutorial where you created three fish to offset animation for random effect in vortex swarm.
My progress after 214 samples out of 3000 of Cycles Render.
