Final Product What You'll Be Creating
Today author Frederik Steinmetz is back with the second day of his water displacement tutorial. In day 2, Frederik will continue working towards the completion of the underwater scene by finalizing the textures and materials in Blender.
In this tutorial you will learn how to use Blender to model an underwater scene. In the resulting animation the camera will pass through the water surface. Then we will use the compositor to create masks for advanced compositing in After Effects where we will also add the water running down from the camera in order to not make the transition look like a computer game.

Awesome Tut. Always wanted to learn how to do that effect. Although i’m trying to get a bit more realism out of it like adding some droplets on the camera lens.
Thanks :)
Thanks Frederik, very interesting tutorial
Waiting for the part 3.
Fantastic tutorial – still waiting for part 3 :)
Did you notice that the HD version of the 1rst Video http://blip.tv/file/get/Cgtuts-Water_Displacement_Day_2_Pt1702.m4v is not available ?
We can only get the 640×480 version of the 1rst video http://j24.video2.blip.tv/10950008480744/Cgtuts-Water_Displacement_Day_2_Pt1627.m4v the link for the 1280×720 version http://blip.tv/file/get/Cgtuts-Water_Displacement_Day_2_Pt1702.m4v is broken.
Not sure what happened with the HD file on Blip, but I’ve swapped it out with the original, so it should be working fine now :)
Sorry for the inconvenience!
