Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 1 of 4 in the series Modeling Wall-e

Today we’re debuting our latest in-depth modeling series for Autodesk Maya where we’ll learn how to faithfully recreate one of Pixar’s most lovable characters, Wall-e. This beginner/ intermediate level tutorial series is focused on hardsurface modeling. We’ll start with basic techniques such as blocking out form, creating more complicated shapes from primitives and making sure that the model has a good edge flow. Then, after we’ve practiced the basic tools and techniques, we’ll move onto using more advanced modeling techniques as the series progresses and we move onto creating more complicated parts.

This is Laszlo’s first time authoring for for Cgtuts+, so please give him a warm welcome as he joins the team and becomes part of the awesome Cgtuts+ community!

    What a fun model!

is this tut going to take months to finish?! -_- idk why cgtuts does this, releasing all the tuts at once is allot better, this method sucks.

    • Ben_Tate

Yes it will. The reason we publish this way is pretty simple. We have a strict monthly budget to cover the cost of everything published throughout the month on Cgtuts+ and we can’t use all of our resources to publish a single tutorial series. Obviously not everyone uses Maya either. So if we did that, there would be no new content for anyone using another software package.

The other reason being, these tutorials take an enormous amount of time and work on the author’s part to create, and we need to allow them time to complete them. So yes, this particular tutorial series will be running for several months.

      Cheers,
