“TF2 Sentry Gun” UVMapping – Day 3

“TF2 Sentry Gun” UVMapping – Day 3

Tutorial Details

Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 9 of 11 in the series 'TF2 Sentry Gun'

Today we’ll continue to concentrate our efforts on uvmapping and work on completing the rear leg sections. This is without a doubt the most challenging part of the model to Uvmap (Yay!) So we’ll dive right in, and begin by manually optimizing our high-res meshes. This step will not only reduce the of amount geometry in the scene, but make the mapping process much more quick and efficient.

In this tutorial authored by Chris Tate, you will learn how to model, uvmap and texture a high poly version of the level one Sentry Gun from Team Fortress 2, using a combination of blueprints, images and video reference. This tutorial is aimed at intermediate to advanced artists, but any artist, regardless of skill level should easily be able to follow along.

        Hi Ashoor,

That’s really weird! I’ve actually never seen that happen before. Did you try “Right Clicking” on the “Video” link (above the each video) and choosing “Save Link As” or “Save Target As”? The videos are hosted on Blip.tv and are unprotected, so that should allow you save them to your hard drive. I just tried it myself and it seems to be working, so it might have just been some sort of weird glitch (Blip has a lot of those!) Could you maybe give it another try?

Regarding the compositing tuts, we actually have one coming soon for Autodesk Composite, and of course there’s always our sister site, “Aetuts+” which has tons of good After Effects content :)

        Cheers!
        Chris

      Hey cryt3k89,

Sorry to hear that! I just checked it out and video 1 plays (and downloads) fine for me. The videos are hosted publicly on Blip.tv so you shouldn’t be receiving any permission errors. Could you give it another try?
