Model a High-Poly Roof Hatch in 3ds Max
In this 2 hour long beginner level tutorial, we will explore in detail the entire process of building a high-poly roof hatch in 3ds Max. We will discuss the modeling process in depth, including a variety of different poly modeling tools and techniques. We will also cover some of the more important theoretical aspects of high poly modeling, such as the importance of using support edges when working with subdivision, and also the use of proper topology when cutting holes into subdivided surfaces while maintaining a quad based mesh.

Hey guys,

The first video is the good one ?
Hi Chris, First of I want to thank you so much for taking the time to make all these tutorials of yours. I was watching the Barrel one last night and coincidently I have just downloaded UV Layout. So it was a nice surprise to see that you included UV mapping in that video. I learnt a lot from watching what you did.
I have downloaded all your training so far as I like how precise you are in your teaching so thank you again for all your hard work.
Somewhere on here is a tutorial for adding details using splines and it was mentioned that this technique would be good for creating normal maps for low poly objects. So as I like your teachings would you consider making a tutorial for creating normal maps and applying them?
I know I am being cheeky asking you for a tutorial but you don’t get anywhere in life without asking.
Thanks again
WindyBut
wow tat was an honest request.
Any way chris good job on this one. And the onething that i liked about you is that you submit all the tuts in whole, rather than making part 1 part 2 etc etc.. which is frustrating..anyway nice work
Hey Windy, thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to watch all of my tutorials and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed them and found them helpful.
Regarding a normal mapping tutorial, I would definitely like to do one, but
honestly, I’m not all that experienced when it comes to creating good quality normal maps. I usually work with higher res models, so I don’t use them very often. I just don’t know if I’m the most qualified person to cover it in a tutorial.
Sorry about that!, I definitely would, if I could:)
Another great tutorial.
Keep up the good work man.
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
Thanks!! Chris….
