Advanced Poly Modeling – Tassimo T-65 Home Brewing Station: Part 1

Advanced Poly Modeling – Tassimo T-65 Home Brewing Station: Part 1

Tutorial Details

Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 1 of 5 in the series Advanced Poly Modeling: Tassimo T-65

In this new tutorial series focused on product modeling and rendering, we’ll create the Tassimo T-65 Home Brewing Station from Bosch. Starting in 3d Studio Max we’ll use a few simple blueprint images to do a block-out of the base, and then begin the process of breaking down and refining the model using more advanced poly modeling techniques to create the final High-res asset. Later lessons will include UVMapping, Texturing, creating V-Ray materials and finally building a suitable studio lighting rig and rendering out the model with V-Ray.

    Very good tutorial.

    Thank you very much.

  • Flapjack

As always Ben did the top quality tutorial :)

  • Andrew Lee

Quick tip. As Ben stated, the blueprint renders he made are distorted by the camera since the camera was as close to the object as he could get it, meaning he needed to use quite a wide angle of view, hence the distortion

If you want to render out an orthographic view, push the zoom really high and move the camera a long way from the object, until you get the object to fit the frame…obviously the camera and target must be in a straight line, in the x, y or z direction, depending on the view you wish to render

This removes all the perspective distortion.

I had to do this for a client who wanted elevations of a building as well 3D views

      Hey Andrew, great tip!

I’ve experimented with a few different setups over the years and have never found a suitable solution to get a distortion free render. So I’m definitely going to give yours a shot on my next attempt at rendering out a set of blueprints for sure ;) Thanks again for the help!

      Cheers,
      Ben

Your welcome Ben.. and I know what you mean, took me hours of messing about, trying al kinds of things. and being amateur photographer, I suddenly thought Telephoto lens, stand far away from an object, zoom in until it fits the view..

For really simple renders, of course, like blueprints, you could just use the standard Max camera and set it to orthographic, but if your using anything but V-Ray materials, that won’t work…would be so much better if they gave the V-Ray camera that same setting, would really make this sort of thing a cinch

Another great tutorial by the way.. Always look forward to your work.

You can easily go to exposure panel ( 8 is the shortcut on the keyboard) , then from exposure parameters you can choose vary camera mode ( the last one ) , then you ca setup the photographic parameters of the camera there and use a normal max camera with orthographic mode :) , thanks a lot for your great tutorial Ben , it is really intresting.
