    Thats it. Thanks Ben.

My file for this project was corrupted so I had to start from the very beginning. Im glad I made it up to this point.

HELP! please. I have a problem that sometimes when I’m working in max some objects instantly disappear. Undo doesn’t bring it back. This happened to the Oil tank when I was working on the bolts the Oil Tank disappeared and I had to do it again. Any solution please!

    Cheers!

      @Karim Duncan

Check your layers, and see which layer is ticked. If a layer is tick and not highlighted when creating new objects they will not appear on the ticked layer.

Don’t know if you are using layers for your geometry. But this happened to me a few weeks ago.

      Hope that helped

Nice tut Ben! Question, why you don’T use modifier “shell” for some construction?
Texture it too! :) It’s a nice model!

      Hey Le fou,

Thanks! As to your question. In most cases I do use the Shell modifier to give pieces thickness, but depending on the situation, sometimes I prefer to do it manually. In some cases the shell modifier will twist the polygons depending on the shape of the original object.

The visor above the truck’s windshield is a perfect example. Because the angle of the polygons is extreme, a shell modifier would have resulted in problems, especially on the top and corners. So I thought it would be best to just extrude the edges by hand and keep the mesh as clean as possible!

      Cheers!

Hey Ben, nice tut as always. I have one question regarding the tuts here on cg tuts. How much would a person get paid for making a written tutorial with pictures ?

  6. 3rddesign says:

Wow! I am really interested with this tutorial. This is really tricky but I will try my best.

  7. Goncalo says:

In fact i started work with 3ds max thanks to CG TUTS. For me is the best site for tutorials. I really learn a lot with you guys. Maybe i question one thing – Architcture. A Simple Modern House for exemple from the modeling to texture and render etc.. Take the days that you need i.ll be waiting.
    Thank you very much

  8. Mark says:

why is it that only the front part of the truck is finish?

    • x3lumin8x says:

Read the title. What does it say? I’ll give you a hint – It’s only day 5.

      • mark says:

he says hes gonna do the whole dam truck in the first video so stuff it an shut up!

    • Ben Tate says:
      Author

Hey Mark, as mentioned above by x3lumin8x, this is only the 5th part of this tutorial series, that’s the reason only part of the truck is done so far.

And yeah, I did say I was going to do the whole truck in the first video, because I am. This is a very long and in-depth project so obviously it’s going to take a while to get the full tutorial out. The next several parts will be coming soon!

  9. Iani says:

Awesome as every time.Keep up ^^^
