Create a Cool Looking Molecule Effect in Maya and After Effects

This tutorial will focus on creating a cool molecule type object with Maya and finish the project off in After Effects. We will begin by modeling the molecule in maya, then create a shader via the hypershade panel and assign it to the object, and render out a still image. Lastly we will take it into After Effects, and create a camera that drifts and zooms towards the molecule. We will also add a few particles to the scene and comp it all together.

What happened to the Cinema 4D tutorial on abstracts that was up this morning?

  2. jaznot says:

most likely it was removed because it was a plagarized piece of trash that utilized poor techniques. all the comments on it other than the first 2 were negative about technique and the fact that it was identical to other tutorials already available via an initial google.

i am glad it was removed but it would have been nice to seem a place holder post to state that it was remove and why it was removed. there have been a large number of tutorials posted on all the tutplus sites that are borderline plagarism and or not up to tutsplus.com quality.

-sry for double post… it’s too bad that all those “abstract” tuts use C4D and gives it a bad name.

      • C4D_Guru says:

Cinema 4D is a good 3D application with a clean structured interface and also easy to learn.

Thank you Mr.tutsplus for removing that bullshi* of a tutorial.

      • The ‘C4D Abstract’ tutorial was found to be un-original in nature, and was subsequently removed from the site. Unfortunately, the site editor (me) is only human, and can not do a complete background check on every submission that comes in. That’s why it’s great that we have such an enthusiastic and informed readership to help us maintain the high quality standard that we have become known to provide:)

well, tune up the grammar first, then maybe someone can answer your question… that post was totally incoherent.

  6. DJ says:

I really enjoyed the tut – had to turn my volume all the way up.

Liked the graphic and the animation; however, from a science standpoint – that ain’t no molecule!
