Tutorial nr. 20 is also a Blenderguru.com tutorial, not a Bensimonds.com ;) Good post though!

      Thanks Joris!

      It’s corrected now :)

  • Caelan Drake

You’ve made my week, literally, this is going to be my weeks worth of blender tutorials.

  • Tanishq Dubey

Amazing selection of tutorials! These really show the power of this great free 3D program.

    • http://craigsnedeker.tumblr.com CraigSnedeker

Yep! Blender is as powerful, if not more powerful (because it’s opensource) then any other commercial 3D software.

Thank you for this great compilation

  • http://www.shadesofadream.com/blog Heather

Um… yes, these are great tutorials, but for someone that scoured the web looking for the best blender tutorials out there I have just one question.

Why are the majority of these from the same 5 sites?

It could be that that’s really all there is out there, and perhaps I’m being too pedantic, but it seems a little odd to me.

    • http://www.christateonline.com Chris Tate
      Staff

Simply because the tutorials from these sites are much higher quality then most!

We originally had many more, but decided to cut it down to what we feel is the best of the best. If we had kept them all, we would have had about 75 tuts on the list, but the quality would have been much more varied.

      Cheers!

      • Tech

Could you make the other 30 available through the comment then ? :P that way it won’t effect the “quality” of the the main post :D

    • Gavin

I’m sorry to say this, but these are indeed the best sites out there for blender. I am new to 3d and have been collecting modelling tutorials and the like for a month now. The truth is, there a few single posts on peoples pages that are good, but for sites that focus on tutorials and not personal exploration, these sites are the best.

I am starting with 3dsmax as the tutorials on this site by Chris and his brother are exceptional. I am dipping my toes into blender as the tutorials on the sites mentioned are also on a par with the ones here.

  • http://filmmaking.com.br Guilherme Rambo

Wow! What an AMAZING selection of tuts! Thanks!

  • Nick

Also worth looking at BlenderNerd.Com. Some of his tuts cover similar processes but quicker tuts perhaps with slight (but acceptable) quality trade-off. It’s about what you learn during the process that counts.
“Don’t try to bend the spoon…”

    • Carl

Blender Nerd is a slippery slope. So much errors or plain wrong stuff in some tuts that you will end up with epic facepalms. It’s more like a site of some guys learning Blender who share their path – with all the misconception one comes up when still learning.

  • Jack

It’s interesting seeing how many of these tutorials I’ve already done, but I see some new ones there as well ;-). Thanks for putting this together!

  • McCal

I just take a look, but it seems amazing. thanks

  • http://yourspecialphotos.co.uk Your Special Wedding Photos

    Amazing tutorials!! Thanks for posting.

  • muhamed

you realise you just took tutorials from 4 websites right? 4 that everyone knows? the purpose of posts like these is to show people stuff they havent seen before.
we’ll at least we have all now seen the biggest fool in the world.
was there even a point to making this “article”?
you’re such a noob and you dont even know it

    • http://www.bentateonline.com Ben Tate
      Author

      Hey Muhamed,

Thanks very much for your useful observations! Reading your comment was the best laugh I’ve had in a while, so thanks again!

The point of this roundup was simply to point our Blender users to some excellent, helpful tutorials, and that’s it.

We chose tuts from those sites for a reason… they offer great content. But clearly with your extensive knowledge you’ve immediately recognized my “Noobness” and outed me on the site! So for any future roundups I put together, I’ll be sure to check with you before publishing it, and maybe you can let me know if “everyone’s” already seen the content or not… because as editor of Cgtuts, I wouldn’t want to look stupid or anything!

      kthxbai!

        @ ben

Dont sweat it, Some people dont realise that just becasue they know of the sites that many others dont
beside though i have heard of most of the sites, there was one i had not heard of and another I havent visited in a while.

Its appreciated, your efforts, and I thank you as i’m others have and will .

Keep up the good post like this

Also there is an excellent Car tutorial on DarkScarab.com that could possible go on this list

    • http://www.BlenderDiplom.com Gottfried Hofmann

I can confirm there are lots of people who didn’t know all the sites yet – thanks Ben for adding some BD fun stuff :)

    Dear Sir,

Please Tell me about the mantal rey software maya thanks

  • Devang Kamdar

Good Stuff. Do you recommend directly diving into these as a beginner or are there any other resources you suggest to go through first? Thanks for sharing.

  • Tech

Amazing Collection for any blender level

  • zevolev

    Awesome list indeed.

I’m a newbie, tried my hand at some large Wiki based tutorial quite some years ago (before these tutorial sites started popping up), only to come to much frustration to see people either deliberately causing errors to the online tutorial, or just not really knowing what they’re doing with the software (some methods were arse backwards, and found myself skipping sections to get what the last guy lost completely). So after a month or two of fiddling around and getting nowhere (and seriously tempted to update the Wiki in question – you know how much time that would take to fix other peoples mistakes :o (I wound up wasting about 500 sheets of paper, because the offline copy was supposed to be safe… Nope! Then: it was actually a Blender approved source for information at the time. I don’t think they realized how many errors there were in it) … anyway just lost interest and stopped at that point.

That being said, I’ve recently started finding sites like this and others which give good tutorials… there was one site which offered tutorials on a 200GB hard drive (had lots of tutorials from beginner, intermediate, and advanced) but I never got around to it, nor can I find it around anymore – does anyone offer a service like that anymore? It would be great to find printable/downloadable tutorials, an error or two is fine – just not to the extent of something like what happened above.
