They say it’s not good to be a “jack of all trades” kind of creative, but I politely disagree. I am building my skill sets in Graphic Design, Web/Multimedia Design/Development, and 3D Animation (hence why tuts+ is one of my favorite sites) and books or tutorials that help me in that goal are absolutely priceless!

    Thank you!

D’Artiste Character Modeling 2 seems to gives a rundown of some well known artists and their work. I’d love to learn about some of the nuances and tricks that go on behind the scenes of great character modeling. As a graphic designer, I’m always looking for new sources of inspiration, new ideas and new ways of looking at things.

» have had flash, ae and cgi tuts on follow on twitter for a while now
I’v been doing Flash and VFX for alot of years now,
but I’m pt. moving into CGI – ive planned to learn more 3d to incoorperate it into some cool aftereffects and/or flash work now that we have flash 10 we have better ways of doing interactive 3d on websites – further on from that point id like to do some real 3d for games

Trying to learn as much 3d as I can, and atm, modeling people is my weakness. This book should help me with character modeling and hopefully improve my skills to a much better level.

Also love your tutorials, keep up the great work! :)

I would prefer D’Artiste Character Modeling 2 because I’ve never done character modeling before and would definitely start to develop my skills in it. Instead of right now where I make basic shapes and blocks into patterns…

He’s been feeling really discouraged lately, since it’s such a tough field to get into, so I think something like this would really inspire him to work even harder!

I’d love to have “Elemental 3: The World’s Best Autodesk Art.” Actually I’d love “D’Artiste” too, but I’m a freelance ArchViz artist and “Elemental” would be great to help keep me up to speed with my work.

  25. Twitter: nealbarenblat

I’d really enjoy a copy of Elemental 3. I’m starting my career in post production, and really need that source of inspiration and sense of mentorism. The lack of a real teacher has left me fending for myself in the great ocean of 3D (and 2D) art, and I feel like something like this can boost my level of creativity. Also, 3D art has become my favorite form of still art; instead of hanging photographs or paintings on my walls, I want to know 3D art well enough to make it my surroundings. There’s so much talent out there that I’m dying to explore.

  26. Jared Wilkin says:

    Twitter:Stintaril

If I had to choose between one of these amazing three books I would choose: D’Artiste Character Modeling 2. My reason for choosing the book would be that I am fascinated with character creation and design. Also, it is the only book that is actually a book with teaching methods rather than a showcasing of just art.

  27. Lance Bauerfeind says:

    Elemental 3

I have recently been made redundant (like alot of us around the world) and have decided to move into something I always wanted to do, matte painting and compositing. I am training at fxphd in Maya and Nuke, this book will help help me to realise my dream.

    Thanks for the opportunity.
